Q. What should I do after I have had to shut down in other than
a normal manner (lock ups, crash, error messages)?
A. 1. Check and clear your temp file folder C:/windows/temp/ any files found in
this folder should be deleted and never save files to this folder. Then shut
down and restart. 2. Run defrag and scandisk.

Q. I just installed a new program and after the program shut down and restarted
windows said it can not find my mouse, what gives?
A. Sometimes Windows 98 gets confused on a hot reset. When installing a program
and it asks to restart your computer now, check or select no and do a full
shutdown and restart (cold reset)

Quick View lets you look at documents without actually opening them. Perhaps the
best use for Quick View is that you can safely view Word documents that may
contain the Melissa virus or other Word Macro viruses. The reason is that when
you view a document in Quick View, you don't launch Word. To enable Quick View
for a given file type, you first must have the option installed on your system
(if you don't have it, launch the Add/Remove Programs item in the Control Panel,
click on the Windows Setup tab, then the Accessories item, then click on the
Details button. If Quick View is checked, you've got it. If not, check it!).
Once you're sure it's installed, select the Options item from the Explorer View
menu and click the File Types tab, the document type you'd like to be able to
see in Quick View, then the Edit button. Now select Enable Quick View, then OK
and OK again.

Here's how to tell any application where to look for documents and where to save
them by default: Find the shortcut to the app on your Desktop or Start menu (for
the Start menu shortcuts, right-click on the Start button and select open, then
drill your way to the shortcut). Right-click on the shortcut and select
Properties. Click on the Shortcut tab. Now type the path to the folder of your
choice in the Start In box.
